This was my fourth running of the James Joyce Ramble. It’s a good early spring race and I was rusty as I am this time of year. I happily finished with the same time I had in 2006. May not do it next year.

“Building the Gherkin” at the MFA

A friend and I went to see the documentary “Building the Gherkin” – presented at the MFA – about a creative and energy efficient building. The Norman Foster designed modern structure was built in London in the mid-2000’s. It was more a controversial while under construction, and was derisively called the Gherkin because of its cucumber shape. By the time it breathlessly opened, the nickname had stuck. It is now a well received building, lovingly called… the gherkin.

But after watching this dry documentary, when all is said and done… it’s just an office building. I like it
