Went to see Wilco play in Vermont.
It was another outdoor concert.
Tickets were only $30.

A good summer salad.
add just a few julienned carrots for even more texture.
Matt’s studio. Milk + Brownies + CD ripping = coma.

Great show with friends. The Wilco lineup is totally at ease. At one point a fan threw unto the stage some DIY hand made head bands. Everyone took a moment to wear then on their foreheads for the next song, except Tweedy, who decided he didn’t want to mess up his hair and wore it choker style around his neck. The film crew captured it all for some later DVD. All good fun.
Low opened, but I think their music doesn’t work well live. Their atmospherics work better when it’s played over a stereo while working or romancing, late into night.
These first Wilco photos are low grade but you can get some idea how beautiful this amphitheater is, as the sun goes down, and the green colorations in the surrounding trees change.
Impossible Germany is the song of the summer, played all over the radio and in my car while traveling. In the DVD edition of Sky Blue Sky there is a terrific video of the band playing Impossible Germany with an extended and creative guitar solo very enjoyable to watch. During the live show they stayed true to the CD release version, of course they played it flawlessly.
“Impossible Germany
Unlikely Japan
This is what love is for
To be out of place
Gorgeous and alone
Face to face”

I was so excited to climb up the lemon tree and pick floral-smelling lemons from my cousin’s backyard. We made gallons of lemonade, and I gave some freshly picked Meyer lemons to friends back in Massachusetts. So damn good.

While in San Francisco I found a well regarded little contemporary art gallery called Catherine Clark Gallery. They are situated near SFMOMA and the Yerba Buena Gardens.
(hmm I had the gallery’s materials, listing the artist, but I sent them to a friend in the industry for her to have. ok, I have found the info.. see below.)

Josephine Taylor “Bomb Landscape 2″ 2007
I had to have it pointed out to me, but I love the echoing of the Romulus and Remus Roman myth.
I also saw my first Julie Heffernan painting at the Catherine Clark Gallery. A few things in this little gallery blew me away.
I’m not going to write much about the world wide developer conference here, except to say that I’m enjoying meeting people and learning more technical items about the Mac OS X platform. I’m happy to finally see the Mac market share start to increase year after year, after a few years in the wilderness. Really enjoy the smart crowd, and what I’ve learned about Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard and Leopard server. A smart small, mid sized organization can really get a lot of power and bang for the buck by deploying Leopard server.
And it’s a bold and confident company that introduces their web browser on their competitor’s platform. Today Apple introduced a beta of Safari on the Windows XP/Vista platform, with strong claims of performance superiority over IE7 and Firefox. I’ll have to install Safari on my PC soon.
Anyway, more absorbing info to be gleaned tomorrow…

sports flash… for hard core Barry fans only
Will also include a few picts of the San Francisco Giants game — including Dave Roberts (a hero to the Red Soxs in 2004) scoring after stealing two bases, and Barry Bonds hitting his 747th homer run. Will all of Barry Bonds 747 home runs be controversial?

Tonight I learned of a few cool islands located east of Madagascar. One of them being an active volcano called Fournaise.
Danaan’s temporary neighbor’s were on a 6 month vacation from the island Reunion (FR) and made everyone a nice salmon dinner (with mushroom butter sauce) and good wine. The fantastic desert was crepes with blueberries, bananas, and creme fraiche As the discussion came around to traveling, they showed us dramatic pictures from their neighboring Fournaise, which is an active volcano and is part of Mauritius.
You can see the volcano island photos here:

Danaan regaled the guests with photos from Alaska. And the three kids ran around acting like, well, kids. Until they demanded the adult’s attention. They gathered us all around “regardez! regardez!” to watch them play the drums, accordion and toy guitar. As Ruben sang “There won’t be another train for a long time,” over and over again. And I believed him.
Madagasgar is on my list of places I want to spend a few weeks soaking up at some point in my life. Maybe I’ll just include Fournaise as a side trip at that time as well. Ok back to my trip here…
