it was perfect beautiful weather all weekend.
Have some crappy smart phone photos to share….
Some stuff I liked: Amy Hitchcock’s box below — shows crooked nails connected by red twine, criss crossing an old map of Boston to highlight the illogical street layout. Also you can notice the small twigs planted in the bottom box, to represent the historical foundations of some older city buildings which had been built upon marsh land. And then she lays it on thick, and finishes off with three images of silver spoons.

(I sometimes wish I had tv in the past year, because I could have watched some of the games this season. I’ve followed along on the radio and online, so I’m still a fan.. I’ll have to find a way to watch some of the post season on tv somewhere..)
LADY CHATTERLEY tells the story of a passion that is both innocent and subversive – one that transcends, without ever ignoring, class and social conventions. As Constance and Parkin nourish their mutual love, both enter into a radical realm where nature, sex and romance merge into one powerful experience. Winner of 5 Cesar Awards (the French ‘Oscar’), including Best Picture and Best Director.

The first hour was tedious and creaky, but the styling picked up as the spring arrived. Nice little touches (like noticing grass moving in the wind, motorized wheelchair scene and the way the characters treat each other) don’t much change what amounts to just another remake.
Ate some bi bim bop and saw some fun live music afterwards.
I met some real nice people tonight at someone’s home. Really good meeting with some seeking neighbors. I look forward to further gatherings like this next month.
Then, I went night running afterwards, in what maybe one of the few remaining PERFECT RUNNING NIGHTS.
With clear skies, almost a full moon, dry pavement, low traffic, 75 degrees Fahrenheit and a slight breeze. Listening to Wilco on my korean MP3 player.
Attended a good police/community meeting at District D-4 tonight. They are located just around the corner from me.
Learned more about the police in my neighborhood. These guys have to cover a very large Boston district from the South End, Backbay, Fenway and some of Roxbury. It’s exhausting to think about it, but these guys are sharp, professional and appear prepared to handle the complexities. And from the numbers that they shared, there is a big reduction in gun related violent crime (only 6) this year. That’s cool. Guns and the city is a bad recipe.
Happy Birthday to M…
Your husband’s lovingly created chocolate-chip cookie ice cream sandwiches made a perfect desert, for a great dinner and very fun late party. Good choice…

Saw the 2004 zombie movie “Dawn of the Dead” which I didn’t expect to like, but it was the cultural commentary and soundtrack that “won me over”.
A nerve racking ride of a movie but a welcomed diversion.

Bowled a fun game at the old bowling alley recently reopened as the Gutter in Williamsburg. Some of those lanes are cranky and we had to change from lane 3 to lane 7.

Enlarged doll heads are the picture of domestic calm, until you look into their eyes. What these dispassioned dolls (our children?) see are visions of hell on earth looked over by the adults, propagated by the humans. Each dolls’ eyes passively reflect back the effects of human violence — bombings, warcrafting, refugees, mass murders, and suicide bombing. While the doll faces remain calm, (perhaps perplexed? perhaps in shock?) — some of us are likely disengaged and do not care about the world, others of us cannot help but be otherwise.
